The sin.berlin editorial team has put together a guide to sex-positive workshops and events in Berlin.
Are you planning your first visit to the IKSK, have you always wanted to take a Shibari course at Karada House or would you like to try out a “Women’s* Temple Night” by Lenia Soley? Then we’ve put together a small list of sex-positive workshops and sex-positive event experiences from Nike and the editorial team.
The IKSK: really beginner friendly?
The Institut für Körperforschung und sexuelle Kultur (IKSK) opened in 2020 on Holzmarkt in Berlin. It is located at the top of a tower-like building with large window fronts and a bright design. Sexuality is part of everyday life here. From there, you can look out over the S-Bahn, the Spree river, Holzmarkt and the Kater Blau club. A wild mixture of hustle and bustle and quiet zone. From the “Girls with cocks” workshop to playful fights at “Play Fight”, the IKSK has a lot to offer. If you’ve never been before, you can quickly become overwhelmed.
The Kissing-Workshop by Joris Kern
But in general, the IKSK focuses on bondage, shibari and power play. Even though there are many courses for beginners, most of the participants are regulars. And a hierarchy can sometimes develop between newbies and regulars. There are also many different people at the IKSK who lead the courses and workshops. To get started – and especially if you are not yet familiar with BDSM – we recommend Joris Kern’s events to get to know the IKSK. Have a listen to our Episode with Joris about the workshop „The art of kissing“.
Other Nature – Sex Toys and Workshop-Space
At Other Nature, you get 2in1: the collective runs a beautiful queer-feminist sex store that also hosts workshops. The workshops change and don’t take place regularly. However, the selection is always exciting and varied.
Sexclusivitäten – visit Laura Méritts living room
Sex counselor, mediator, author and communication scientist Laura Méritt invites you into her living room at home for various events. What may seem strange at first glance feels very cozy after a while. Watching porn together followed by a discussion or intimate vulva massages. You can experience and learn a lot with Laura.
Karada House – Cuddles, cakes and kinks
Karada House is a queer collaborative art space located in Moabit that researches the boundaries, intersectionalities and politics of body, art and celebrates and explores the variety of gender and sexual expressions and identifications. They also have a strong focus on BDSM but in comparison to IKSK they practice more intersectionality. One of our favorite events is „Cuddles, Cakes and Kinks“.
Breath work expert Victoria Etherington and sexologist and embodiment coach Katharina Krauss (alias Muse Meduse) guide the naked and blind-folded people through a sensual, oily and intense experience. A truly beautiful experience and perfect for beginners.
Women Tempel Night by sex worker and therapist Lenia Soley
A great place to make your first sexual or erotic (group) experience with women. Lenia Soley offers different kinds of Tempel Nights: For beginner (hosted by , the wellness edition and the „normal“ Tempel Nights. Which ever one you choose, it guarantees you a sensual and sexual or self-pleasure evening in a calming atmosphere.
Play Tempel: Queer tempel nights by Mx. Gili
Tantra and sex-positive expert Mx. Gili hosts Play Tempel Nights and Play Tempel Weekends which are more focused on queer people and various desires and connections. There are different events and some are more suitable for beginners. However all of them can be a great experience.
More about sex-positive workshops: Episode 3 of the “Sex in Berlin” podcast also gives you an intimate and beautiful insight into the IKSK. Nike meets with Felix Ruckert, the choreographer who co-founded the IKSK. Nike also talks to sexologist Coach Lea, who also gives workshops at the IKSK. She specializes in spanking and vaginal fisting. You can listen to the episode here:
