Sex-positive Clubs and Parties in Berlin

Berlin offers a wide range of sex-positive clubs and parties. In this article, we took a closer look at the most popular events and asked the experienced ones about their hot insider tips. But before you decide to go to a sex-positive club or party, you can familiarize yourself with a few important aspects.

The Dress Code

Many events and parties have a dress code. Even if this is sometimes a bit annoying, most themes are formulated in a very general way so that there is no very restricted dress code, but plenty of leeway. With the dress code, the organizers ensure that nudity or fetish clothing applies to everyone and that there are no people standing dressed on the edge of the dance floor just to gawk. Being (half) naked in a club or party setting is still a very vulnerable position.

Seeing Nudity and Sex

And that brings us to another point. We can let our eyes wander in sex-positive clubs, that’s ok, but intense looking or staring (especially looking at naked bodies or sexual acts) also requires active consent. You can think about how you might approach and ask people beforehand if you want to watch them having sex. In addition, seeing certain explicit acts can have a triggering or otherwise negative effect on some people. It’s best to find out exactly what kind of party it is before you go if you feel like there might be some triggering pictures for you. You can sometimes get a pretty good idea of the vibe of the party from the theme/dress code and the type of music. Sometimes you can also find more information through previous events or explicit content information from the organizers.

Awareness

Some sex-positive clubs and events have competent awareness teams for their parties. Sometimes the awareness team is part of a collective and is brought to the event by the club from outside (e.g. the collective b-aware). Or the club or the organizers have their own awareness team. For many, an awareness team is an indispensable part of a sex-positive event. Unfortunately, not all clubs and events have such awareness teams. Some are being criticized for this. If it is important to you, you should find out in advance whether the party you want to go to has awareness guidelines, consent rules and awareness staff.

Sex-positive Clubs:

  • Insomnia
The Insomnia Club is good mix between music club and swinger club. Maybe a good fit for everyone who would like do experience some swinger vibes but in a more club-like atmosphere.
  • Berghain / Laboratory
The famous club of Berlin. Part of Berghain is the Laboratory which has usually men only parties and various events with or without dress codes. Now and then they also have FLINTA only nights.
  • SchwuZ
The SchwuZ is the largest queer club in Berlin with a focus on pop culture. Great for people who like some chart hits or 90s parties and colorful vibes. The club is not specifically labeled „sex-positive“ but you can definately find the vibe there. Also the club has great access for wheelchair users!
  • KitKat
Although it is famous among Berliner and tourists, the club faces a lot of critique for various reasons. We only recommend the Four Play club night because it is organized not by KitKat but by the collective section8. They also provide the very competent awareness team by b-aware. Usually there is no awareness team present at KitKat.
  • Avarus
One of Berlins most famous swinger clubs. Hot tub, motto nights, chocolate sauna and heavy buffet: It has all the classic swinger elements.
